About Me

 Boomer the PNG Tuber

I started my online career as Boomer the PNG Tuber, a TV-head pngtuber (or Vtuber, depending on your preferences) streaming over on Twitch. I streamed a small variety of games, including Minecraft, Slay the Spire, Pokemon, and a few others.

I was eventually invited to the HEY!!!Craft SMP hosted by Farmer Gadda, a lore-light (or lore-less) SMP of a few
friends. I am still a member of the SMP despite my hiatus.

Recently, I have rebranded as a shark mermaid PNGTuber, using pixel art I created as the PNG I stream with. As my large computer currently is out of commission, I am severely limited in what I can or cannot play on stream, leaving me to stream Just Chatting, Minecraft, or Chillquarium.

Behind the Curtain

I am in my late twenties, living on the west coast with my partner and dog, and have recently (as of 1/15/25) started this blog. I am in my last year of college, majoring in English and minoring in Sociology, and am hoping to be accepted into a master's program this upcoming fall so that I can continue my education in English. My large goal is to get a PhD in Literary Environmental Criticism, but I have a few steps to complete before I get there.

Why did I start the blog?

I have a deep love for analysis and wanted an outlet that was not schoolwork. I am running a lot of TTRPGs this year as one or multi-shot games and wanted to be able to reference back to how those games went, what we did, and when we did it. This is just as much an archive of my gaming experience for me as it is for y'all.

Future Plans for the Blog

I may post book reviews as well, largely unrelated to TTRPGs, as I finish them up. I have to do weekly analyses of poetry and stories for my English classes and I may post them here as well (barring any that I keep to use for my master's thesis). I may also post original creative work here, but I may also keep that wholly separate.

Monster of the Week - One Shot

You can find the system here . The game ran on March 1, 2025. For starters, here is the pitch I sent my players:  Welcome to Slade Corp, a monster hunting division out of Central Texas. Your jobs, as you understand them, is to track monsters and relocate them back to their natural habitats or a wildlife preserve suited for their care. This case however, is a doozy. A large radius of people have reported hauntings on a scale you've never seen before, and you're worried this is beyond your scope. I thought the idea of a monster relocation service was interested and decided to expand from there. This storyline was constructed almost completely off the cuff. I decided on the monsters of the drekavac and La Llorona because of the German and Mexican populations in Central Texas. Yes, the drekavac is Slavic, but I couldn't find a good German ghost story in short notice, so we had to pivot slightly. The story ended up moving away from what I initially planned, but that w...

A Walkthrough of Sentai and Sensibility

Disclaimer: I am not a Sentai expert by any means, nor am I well-versed in the Regency era as a historian of any kind.  The first game we're going to discuss (and the first one I'm going to dissect) is Sentai and Sensibility , a regency era Power Rangers game in the Polymorph system. This will follow a more structured path as I take you through the zine published by 9th Level Games . The Polymorph System The Polymorph system is one designed by 9th level games and has 4 major classes, each based on a different die which that class exclusively rolls: the d4 , d6 , d8 , and d10 . Additional classes can be made using a d5 , d7 , and d9 . A d12 has been described as being overpowered and a little unpredictable for the system, so it is left out of class design. The specifics of the four classes will be explained down below " Your Station ". On the occasion of playing The players are referred to as the Gentlefolk , the game master is referred to as Master of Ceremonies, ...

Running One Shots and Getting Back into TTRPG's

Welcome to the inaugural blog post. I have started a discord server for a series of one shots run in different systems with a cycling group of 16 players. This blog is largely to document how those games were run, as well as a few key questions for each game. How I interpret the system How my players interpret the system What the plot line was How I devise plot lines Main takeaways in the story What I liked about the game What my players liked about the game Past that, it's really up to the system and the game to decide what other questions we ask and answer. Some games are slotted to run for multiple sessions (max of 5 because that's about what my attention span and excitement can handle), and thus the blog posts about those games will be written in parts and uploaded once all games conclude, answering some questions multiple times throughout the process. Other than that, I'm intrigued to see what other questions people want to see answered, or if there's things you w...
